What to do?

Call us! We are here to help you with questions and concerns at any time. We can answer questions regarding funeral services, cremation services and options, cemetery markers, pre-arrangements and transfers, and other related topics.

These are some of the questions we have been asked:

My mother is at home and we are being serviced by Hospice. What do I do when my mother dies?

You just need to notify Hospice of your funeral home of choice, and they will take care of all the necessary legal requirements. Many times when someone has a terminal illness, the family will elect to pre-arrange the future funeral. This helps the family so that they are not overwhelmed by all the details and decisions at the time of death.

My father lives alone. He is 90 years old. I worry that one-day, when I go to check on him, I may find the worst. What would I do if this happens?

Call 911. The police and emergency medical personnel will then determine the appropriate steps to be taken. Often the police or Justice of the Peace can release the deceased to the funeral home. However, in certain cases, the deceased may be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in order to determine the cause of death.

My uncle always says, “I just want to be cremated.” What are the options for cremation?

Cremation has become the choice of many people in the last few years. Cremation is a form of final disposition as is a burial. You can have the cremation performed and then schedule a memorial service at a later time at your convenience.  You can also have the cremation after a visitation and funeral service.

My aunt lives out of state. She says she wants to be buried in Taylor. How would that work?

You can call your funeral home of choice and let them know where she passed away. Once they have been notified they can then contact a funeral home in the area where your aunt is located and make arrangements for transportation back to the area chosen for burial.

I have recently moved to the area and have an existing pre-arrangement with a funeral home elsewhere. I do not plan on moving back. What can I do with my pre-arrangement?

You can bring your pre-arrangement policy in and we can review it and check into all the requirements for you, to find out the possibility of transferring it.
