On September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center towers were destroyed by unforgiveable acts of terrorism, and many Americans perished in the catastrophe.  Among the casualties were hundreds of rescue workers who lost their lives in heroic efforts to save their fellow citizens.  This Memorial has been created to honor this New York City Firefighter who answered the call on September 11, 2001.  The bravery, selflessness and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.    Families, friends, associates and well-wishers are invited to sign the Visitor Registry and add your own memories, reflections and photos.  PLEASE NOTE:  To visit the group Memorial honoring all the New York City Firefighters who lost their lives in the World Trade Center catastrophe, click here: New York City Firefighters   Several other group Memorials have been established to honor the victims of this tragedy.  Please visit the "America Under Attack" entry page for the list of Memorials. America Under Attack Entry Page   JOHNSTON-William, age 31 of North Babylon. NYC Fire Fighter, a fallen hero in the line of duty on September 11, 2001. Devoted son of William and Joy. Beloved brother of Dianne and Harry Cuff, Robert Johnston and special friend Fran Panico and Christine Johnston. Cherished grandson of Elizabeth and the late George Ratzmann and the late William and Martha Johnston. Dear nephew of uncle Bobby and aunt Deb Johnston, aunt Gail and uncle Juan Montero, aunt Jane Morgan, uncle Darren and aunt Gloria Ratzmann and uncle Rev. George Ratzmann. Fond cousin of Ann Marie, Jennifer and Patricia Montero; Edward, Peter and Patrick Morgan; Kelly and Brianna Johnston; Brian and Kevin Ratzmann. Also survived by the members and officers of Engine 276, Ladder 156 and Engine Company 6; all brother Firefighters, NYC Transit Authority Iron Workers and too many friends and relatives to list.   Friends may visit at the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, 448 W. Main St., Babylon Village, Wednesday 7-9:30PM and Thursday 2-4:30, 7-9:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10:30AM at Our Lady of Grace RC Church, W. Babylon, NY. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the NYC Burn Center.
