Ersyl E. Welch, 78, of Taylor, died Thursday, July 18, 2002 at a nursing home in Granger.  Visitation will be Friday, 6 to 8 PM at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.  Celebration of Life services will be 11 AM Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 3 PM at Wealthy Cemetery in Normangee.  Ersyl Elmon Welch was born February 26, 1924 to L. and Susan (Kinsey) Welch in Madison County. Ersyl grew up in Normangee. He served as a US Marine during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific War from 1943 to 1945. Ersyl married Marion Hughes on February 9, 1945 in Austin, Texas. He had lived in Elgin and Oklahoma and moved to Taylor in 1997. Although he wasn’t an active member in any local church, he had a quiet relationship with the Lord and was a man of faith. Mr. Welch was a paint contractor for many years in the Austin area. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed many of life’s adventures including fishing and hunting. Mr. Welch also enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens.   Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marion Loreese Welch of Taylor; son, William Welch of Taylor; two daughters, Suzanne Bonecutter and husband, Brent of San Antonio and Denise Meyer and husband, Gregg of Elgin; a brother, Rev. J. T. Welch and wife, Bennie of Houston; a sister, Lyndel Reding of Pasadena; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society,   c/o Tamara Friar, 1701 N.
