G O R M A N  Sylvester J. III, "Syl" on Memorial Day, May 31, 2004.  Beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth "Betty"  (nee Ward) for 56 years.  Loving father of S. John IV (Maureen), Susan Lawton (Tom), James, Timothy (Barbara) and Peggy McKeon (Ted); Dear brother of Veronica Raidy and Patrick J. Gorman; also survived by his 16 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.  Syl was a 1942 graduate of La Salle College High School.  He entered Franklin & Marshall's Marine Corp V12 program and served in the Pacific.  He was most proud of his love for and service to his country.  He graduated from Franklin & Marshall, as a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity in 1947, and enrolled in Georgetown Law and then joined the FBI.  After deciding the FBI was not the life he wanted with a young family, Mr. Gorman decided to follow in his father's footsteps and went into the paint business with DuPont.  Mr. Gorman retired after 35 years with DuPont Pigments as National Director of Sales. Mr.  Gorman enjoyed his home in Ocean City with his wife, children and grandchildren.  He was an avid reader and a Civil war buff.  Syl loved golf and was a longtime member of Whitemarsh Valley Country Club as well as being a member of Seaview Country Club, and the New York Athletic Club.  He also enjoyed dual citizenship in the Republic of Ireland.  Good friends always said "You'd know Syl was in the room because he was larger than life."  The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday at 9:30AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, 424 S. Main St., North Wales, PA. With the Funeral Mass following at 11:30AM.  Interment Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to La Salle College High School Scholarship Fund, 8605 Cheltenham Ave., Wyndmoor, PA 19038.  Share your favorite memories of Syl by visiting www.SlabinskiFuneralHome.com
