Anna & Hector
About five years ago we had this idea. There was a piece of land going to waste near the neighborhood. What better use than a garden for the residents to grow vegetables and flowers and to enjoy the park-like setting we hoped to create. But first we had to buy this property and, second, we needed help with the layout of the site. The first part was easy compared to the final planning and Rosa came to mind. Once she was involved, Rosa's seemingly tireless energy never failed to motivate our group trying to get this garden idea off the ground. Many weekends and many meetings later, we finally did it! It's never easy to bring an idea to fruition, no matter how terrific, but she was there with us every step of the way showing us what to do and even wielding a shovel!

Hector and I have enjoyed such a wonderful friendship with Rosa and Alonso all these years. I remember the first time I met Rosa. She was up to her elbows in dirt working in her garden when I stopped to ask for directions. The conversation progressed beyond which road to take and she took me on a tour of her gardens. Such magnificence. I was working for a local weekly newspaper at the time and knew I had an interesting story. Did I ever. And that was the beginning of a lovely friendship that I'll always treasure, dearest Rosa.
